Inspiration
The proposal to establish the scholarship fund was initially floated by Patrick. G. Barugahare’s in his speech on behalf of the children of Mr and Mrs Kosia and Violet Barugahare at the function held at their home on 7th January 2012 celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary. At a family meeting held on the 8th April 2012 at the home of Mr and Mrs Barugahare at Rwenkanja, Kyeibare, Mutara, Mitooma District, the family endorsed the establishment of a scholarship fund sponsored by, and under the name of, the Barugahare family.
It was resolved at this meeting, amongst other matters, to establish a Committee to develop guidelines and modalities for the establishment of the scholarship fund. The Committee subsequently met, formulated and circulated draft guidelines and proposals.
At the 20th October 2012 Family meeting at Najeera Kampala, it was agreed that the mandate of the fund be widened beyond education and the provision of scholarships. For this purpose, it was resolved that a foundation through which scholarships and other charitable projects can be funded and/or implemented by the Barugahare family, donors and well-wishers be established under the name of the K & V Barugahare Foundation (“the Foundation”).
The name was in recognition Mr. Kosia and Mrs. Violet Barugahare’s significant efforts and investment in the education of their children and their keen interest and promotion of education to the wider community within Kyeibaare parish and Mitooma District. The Barugahare family therefore resolved that a foundation be established in their parent’s names, hence the name K & V Barugahare Foundation.
